Cagnano Varano (FG) Puglia - Italy has the biggest mussel farming in south Italy (hundreds of kilometers) . It is one of the Italian Regions close to the famous Tremiti Islands, the unique islands on the Adriatic sea (east Italy). This short documentary talks about the fantastic trip with the expert mussel farmers, farmers for generations, it began from salt lake to the open sea, returning the base after hours of hard work to add a lot of buoys to emerge the correct level the mussels after a couple of weeks to crew and taking some mussels for the lunch / dinner day. (watch "The longline system" on the figure below) During the trip we have had a great surprise and rare meeting, a lot of wild dolphins swimming close to the farm.

The longline system consists of a backline (headrope), sleeves (or socks), buoys, anchors, and anchor rods (Figure 1).
